Financial Controller

What are you going to do

For our client, an International organization focusing on providing Global Mobility Services to corporate clients and their international workforce, for example Tax Return & Immigration services across countries, we are looking for a Financial Controller. As a Financial Controller and Finance Partner to the local Territory Leader, you will play a key role in supporting working capital management and overseeing month-end and year-end closing activities. You will be responsible for all administrative functions within the territory of the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium, collaborating closely with client engagement teams to ensure seamless operations. Acting as the main point of contact for various finance teams, including billing & collections, regional finance, and shared service center accounting, you will ensure smooth financial processes across the business. You will manage budgeting and forecasting, working closely with billing partners and directors to ensure financial accuracy. Additionally, you will provide performance analysis to support management decision-making and drive profitability, while maintaining strong financial controls over both revenue and working capital.

You will join a dynamic team committed to growth and innovation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to brainstorm with others in the same position responsible for other territories. You will also closely work together with the Territory Leader and report directly to the Europe CFO in London.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Support month-end and year-end closing to ensure compliance with both internal and external reporting requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate client billing, while identifying opportunities to minimize work-in-progress
  • Perform regular work in progress reconciliations and quarterly attestations to ensure accurate revenue recognition and minimize aged work in progress
  • Coordinate annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and updates to business plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly operating reviews, analyzing historical financials, explaining variances, and updating forecasts
  • Provide management reports, including variance analysis to compare actual performance against budget/forecast and prior periods, and monitor key performance targets such as billing and collection goals, staff utilization, margin analysis, and VVN utilization.
  • Act as the local contact for queries or requests from the centralized debt collection team
  • Investigate and resolve finance or administrative queries raised by the client engagement team, collaborating with other finance departments and IT
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with internal control procedures, Group policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and support special projects as requested by the Territory Leader or CFO
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of monthly reports and submissions to government bodies
  • Support internal and external audits
Your profile
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a Big4 firm
  • Strong business insights with a focus on working capital management and financial analysis
  • Proactive, with a practical and commercial approach to problem-solving and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including Business Leadership, Treasury, Tax, IT, and colleagues
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools
  • Experience in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis, with a strong understanding of accounting processes
